We have an opportunity for a Manager, Novocol Operations Finance.

Job Summary

The Manager of Novocol Operations, Finance is accountable to the Director of Operations, Finance. This individual will possess strong leadership, reporting, organizational and analytical skills with a manufacturing background. This individual leads the operations performance measurement, budgeting, forecasting and planning processes for the company, including financial & variance analysis, non-standard reporting and business strategic analysis for both Dental and Pharma (including Duoject) activity with a focus on manufacturing activities.


This person develops and reviews analysis to provide insightful suggestions for the businesses and will support and work with the President, Pharma and any applicable VP, General Manager, Directors included in the business.


This role will also play a lead role as an ERP subject matter expert, including testing, training, assessment, and maintenance related to the costing and project modules.


This individual is responsible for managing the Costing and Pharma Financial Analysts. This individual will also play a lead role in designing and implementing the budgeting and planning processes within their respective scope, including the implementation of any systems and tools required to ensure an efficient planning process. This individual will also work with the Accounting team and Commercial Finance Dental team to align the financial information provided for budgeting, forecasting and analytical reporting needs. Responsibilities

Financial Reporting :

  • Responsible for the measurement of operations performance, including Manufacturing Income Statements and other key financial reports.
  • Actively identifies cost savings and process improvement opportunities throughout the business.
  • Analyzes and adjusts allocations of costs between business categories (examples; Dental, Pharma, Duoject, Capex, etc) to provide an appropriate picture of profitability
  • Prepares and organizes operational review materials including monthly and quarterly reporting and on-site visits.
  • Develops a solid knowledge of the systems used for reporting (AX, CPM, BI).   Leads in the management of such tools, and in enhancing the reporting and dashboards in CPM and BI.
  • Supports the harmonization of measurement tools and reporting systems.
  • Generate regular financial reports for project stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance and potential risks from BI & CPM
  • Communicate financial status and variances to project teams and management on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
     

Costing:

  • Ensures accurate standard costing and clear understanding of industrial performance.
  • Ensure Routes and Bill of Material accuracy for all Manufactured products.
  • Measures standard cost variances.
  • Defines and evaluates the standard cost of new products in coordination with the project development team.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate inventories valuation on the balance sheet.
  • Assist in resource planning by analyzing project resource needs and allocating budgets accordingly.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources to maximize project / product efficiency.

 

Financial Planning:

  • Plays a lead role in the budgeting and planning processes of the manufacturing operations for the dental business and entirety of Novocol Pharma and Duoject.
  • Prepares and reviews capex requests to comply with corporate guidelines for proper financial returns. (Pay back Calculation, Review of Letter of Justification)
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets based on cost estimates and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project budgets and financial performance against the established plans, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.

Compliance

  • Works closely with external auditors and answers any related questions.
  • Manages the inventory cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with audit teams to address any compliance issues.
  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the operations financial statements and maintains an effective cost accounting system and financial reporting structure.
  • Supports and ensures the financial accuracy of Departmental Spending reports.
  • Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all company policies and procedures. Provides recommendations for improvements and monitors compliance with internal control policies.
  • Ensures the invoicing and revenue recognition is appropriate for the Pharma business (including Duoject).

Management:

  • Manages and provides leadership to the operational finance team, including employee development, objective setting and performance monitoring.
  • Works closely with the business leaders to achieve financial commitments. Works with Senior Management including CFO, VP’s, to provide advice, support and assist with reviews, payback analysis and in determining new functional business strategies.
  • Provides and ensures open and strong communication at all levels of the financial teams.
  • Performs other related duties and or special projects as required in the finance department or requested by the Director of Finance, Global Operations and the Global Vice Presidents of Finance or CFO.

Basic Requirements:

Education

  •  University Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
  •  CPA

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  •  Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing accounting, product costing, budgeting and forecasting.  
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and meet project timeliness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with staff, management, external resources and auditors.
  • Advanced level MS Office Suite skills, with an emphasis on advanced level Excel. Experience with business ERP Systems Required (SAP)
  • Ability to travel to Europe on a periodic basis.
