The company has an opening at its sterile injectable manufacturing facility in Cambridge, Ontario for a Buyer, Global Procurement.
Job Summary
The Buyer, Global Procurement is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation, and selection of the best vendors to deliver the most cost-effective, quality materials or services to support operations and shared services while managing sustainable business relationships with our vendors.
This position, part of the global procurement organization, primarily focuses on the scope of the Septodont, Cambridge site but may also be involved in some projects/negotiations at Septodont Group global level.
This position works hand to hand with the site purchasing team and closely with supply chain, engineering, production, project management and product development teams.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support internal stakeholders for the sourcing and procurement process:
o Needs and scope definition and scope of work drafting support
o Potential vendor screening and leading due diligence activities
o Prepare Requests For Proposal and manage vendor bid process
o Proposals comparison and selection
o Negotiation (quality, prices, timelines, business terms…)
o Contract performance support to legal
o Main suppliers monitoring including establishing and reporting on KPI’s - In line with the global team, conduct business analysis and develop local sourcing strategies
- Beyond price negotiations, work and regularly propose solutions to optimize and strengthen vendor partnerships, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership of goods and services
- Leads cost savings and value creation projects
- Negotiate yearly agreements and liaise with purchasing and supply chain for goods supply and master data management such as pricing, MOQ and lead times. The purchasing team is responsible for ordering, supply and inventory management.
- Lead regular Business Review Meetings with main/strategic vendors and manage KPIs aligned with global procurement strategy.
- Leads claims process with vendors and liaises with other departments for timely problem solving.
- Scope covers both direct and indirect procurement (goods and services).
Follows GMP, regulatory requirements and policies/SOP and ensures quality standards are met. - Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Demonstrates the Company Mission, Vision and Values Statements, policies, and current standard business practices.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business and/or technical field
- Post-graduate education/certificate in purchasing/procurement management
- Project Management designation or experience is an asset
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in strategic procurement
- Pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Expertise in procurement principles and supply chain understanding
- Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to work independently.
- Proven analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and achieve results.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects.
- Able to work effectively in a cross-functional setting as a team player in collaboration with others.
- Ability to challenge status quo and adapt precedent from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
